Concert Choir (1 credit)
Grade Levels: 9-12
This class is designed for students of music who are interested in developing both choral and individual singing technique through ensemble singing. Students will develop sight-reading, harmonization skills, basic music theory and vocal techniques through the application of acquired skills to a wide range of choral music. Students will be expected to participate in all choral events, assemblies, and some liturgical services.
The Concert Choir provides students musical training and education as well as performance opportunities in our community.
April 22, 2016 six year-old Seton Catholic Prep Concert Choir, won 1st place in the 1A division and received one of the only SUPERIOR ratings given out at the "Music in the Parks" Music Competition in Anaheim, CA, where over 1,600 middle school and high school choirs, bands and orchestras completed. The Choir was directed by Janet Reiter, assisted by Keri Kutch, with piano accompanists, Marcia Andrews and Jorie Freitag '16.
In 2015 they won first place GOLD in the 1A division at the Worldstrides, Heritage Music Festival in Seattle, WA, April 18, 2015. They also received 3 Superior ratings at the LCRMA High School Choir Festival in Vancouver, WA, April 16th and then received 2 Excellent Awards at the Columbia Basin College Choir Festival in Pasco, WA, April 17th. The Seton Concert Choir is directed by, Janet Reiter with piano accompanist, Marcia Andrews.
