Job Title:                  Head Boys Basketball Coach

Reports to:                Athletic Director and Assistant Principal

 

Job Summary

 

The successful candidate will oversee an established program with varsity and junior varsity teams.  There is one paid assistant coach.  Seton Catholic begins play in the 1A Trico league in Southwest Washington next year during the 2012 – 2013 season.

 

Essential Duties

 

·       Oversee the growth of the program and development of Assistant Coaches

·       Is collaborative with other Seton coaches and is supportive of athletes involved in multiple Seton sports throughout the year.

·       Sets training and practice schedules and perform all head coaching duties

throughout the year including campus visibility and out of season play.

·       Work with players in developing and improving their skills for

participation at the varsity level.

·       Communicate and coordinate with the A.D. on needed equipment and training                 

materials .

·       Be proactive in support of Seton Catholic eligibility standards.

·       Communicate goals of the program to parents and athletes.

·       Work with the Director of Athletics and other staff/administration in the

implementation of a quality student athlete program.

 

Professional Qualifications

 

·       Has high moral and professional standards as outlined in the Seton Catholic Faculty/Staff handbook.

·       Has an understanding of and abides by League and WIAA rules.

·       Experience in all phases of the game of basketball.

·       Prior basketball coaching experience. 

·       Has met or will meet WIAA coaching standards.

·       Demonstrates leadership and organizational experience.

·       Communicates effectively with players, parents, community, administration and staff.

·       Has willingness to help athletes develop and improve their skills in season and out.

·       Ability to motivate students.

·       Has the patience to work with athletes of varying experience and skill levels.

·       Has experience working in the Catholic school system.

·       Has a positive attitude and enthusiastic approach.

·       Has a sense of humor and is able to build relationships with athletes and staff.
