ART CLASSES OFFERED
Digital Art
(also applicable as a Fine Arts credit) Grade Levels: 9-12 This one-year course introduces students to digital media art. We will focus on the fundamental elements of art and design, color theory and basic concepts drawing/painting electronically . This course will expose students to two programs (Canva and Procreate) to develop their skills for further digital art study. Students will learn to utilize elements and principles of art and design for their own work.
Intro to Visual Arts
Grade Levels: 9-12 This course is an overview of basic art principles, methods, and media. This course is divided into four major areas of exploration: elements of art, principles of design, artist study, and art movements. Projects may include drawing techniques, color psychology, using watercolor, pen and ink, pastels, and more.
Advanced Visual Arts
Grade Levels: 9-12 Prerequisite: Introduction to Visual Arts Advanced Visual Arts builds upon the foundational skills and concepts learned in Introduction to Visual Arts and is designed for students who wish to further develop their artistic skills, creative voice, and understanding of visual art. Students will explore a variety of advanced techniques and media such as drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, and digital art while developing a personal portfolio of work. Emphasis will be placed on artistic process, composition, craftsmanship, creativity, critique, and art history connections. Students will engage in individual and collaborative projects, participate in critiques, and refine their ability to communicate ideas and meaning through visual expression.
