my name is Avery Garrison I am a senior here at Seton Catholic and I am one of 16 worldwide to be certified as a youth it talk trainer they've talked is a program which focuses on speaking out suicidal thoughts and being aware of your peers who may be going through something suicide and to kind of you know take notice of that so we can spread it out into the community and create a safer environment for us this group was actually sponsored by the Seattle archdiocese which is pretty anything because they took the time to make sure that schools like Seton Catholic or able to be a part of something much bigger and something that hopefully will help change the community for a better and create a suicide safer Community for everybody but we have been trained our fellow students as well as some of the adults and parents in the area and some of our staff members here at Seton Catholic so they can be more aware of suicide within our own School Community suicide is real it's a big thing and it's something of a not talked about enough I got this email that there is an opportunity to go down to Portland because I think it was one of the great anniversaries livingworks which is the association that say dog is apart of before all of this I would have been super afraid to even talk about suicide but when you talk about it more it becomes more than normality and something to not be free so when I got the opportunity I decided to just speak from the heart and that's kind of what got me going less backspace backspace more so what's personal about it and what we're doing for the future of safe talk just so you know what suicide safer community in general so here as being Catholic as I finish out my senior year I would love for our school to be able to continue training other students to become a top trainers in the future I would also love continue doing this in my future and so I never stop never stopping that Outreach who can possibly assist in Saving a life if that life is saved that person has a hope for the future and for their life that's most important thing. running is hard and if you're not okay with failing you're not going to like running changes like the weather there's more bad days good is a good day they're having lie that's why I run my name is Alexis Leone and I'm missing you this year at Seton Catholic this boy has brought a lot of people into my life my coaches my teammate and other Runners that I'd met across the country the running Community is just so different from other sports does a connection and a common ground and wants to my teammates they switch me to be the best that I can be because when I have an erase I want when when my competitors are at their best as an athlete you need people in your life that are going to push you and for me that's my dad and my coat my relationship with a honestly don't know how to define it it's so huge one word that comes to mind is stability I was okay and I was succeeding it was real defining moment in our relationship I'm just so grateful for him she's what we call the total comprehensive student Jesus six-time state champion 7 time difference for Champion she's currently in the top five in the state of Washington at all levels she's a 4.0 student sees we have a saying here what we call you say this is how we when is the very definition of that play Kenny G major I have doubts and anxiety but I'm proud of the fact that I'm able to overcome that and keep the savings bright. who is everything you're dealing with on the course for on the track is such a really amazing but when I think about what has been my greatest accomplishments it's not the running or the state titles it's my family when I think about how we've evolved over the years and the fact that my dad heard about the end and listen to it and thought this could be the community where I grow not this is a runner but there's a person my name is Max activated I'm a junior here at Seton Catholic and Catholic Max I had the opportunity to serve for an organization called Courts for kids this summer in the Dominican Republic the kid is it's an international organization that goes all around the world and they build these multi-use Courts for communities that can be disadvantaged or impoverished communities that don't have the resources to do so they work for kids GoNoodle opting out of the bus and we are getting off these kids they're just so happy and like right away they want to become friends with us hanging out with us and I think that was like something sounds like wow this is like something you don't really see back at home departs the world do they don't have much when any opportunity comes for something new for additions to their community that all they want to do is be a part of it the biggest thing for me on the Strip it was tough living in their living conditions like is really like mentally challenging and something that I never liked experience or how to put myself there before we take the littlest things like running water and so that for granted but these people live like this everyday and like how resourceful they are is is like absolutely amazing to me we're coming in and it seems like the worst place to be but got everything I needed it more after building courts all day and working all day long we all go back to our camp and we shower we cannot clean ourselves up get the concrete out for clothes and we go back out into the street and yet again we just welcomed with open arms by the they were already out there it was just pure joy the last night we left the village we stayed in Santa Domingo we did this group reflection at the end where we trying to call it like the hot seat and one person sat in the middle everyone had to do this in six or seven people raise their hands and said things that they really like about them or like maybe a fun story from the church that they had with them and just hearing that from people you may not consider your best friend closest friends in hearing what they have to say about you it just was like really heartwarming after we finished building the courts and it was finally time to go if it hurt to leave but it's an impact that really it is my life from here on out I think leaving was like so hard because it almost felt like really we're best friends are like even though you're there for 10 days scene was not in the picture for me up how right before high school started and I'm so thankful that someone told me about it because if I never seen I never would have gotten opportunities like these and I think this is represents house eating is so much bigger than this school district already has a text me just being here in Vancouver but now like going out into the world and showing us what Satan has created us to do and taught us to do is like really it was really impact full and I'm so grateful that they gave me a doctor that can go on this trip
